Is classical education really possible in this day and age?

Absolutely! Classical and Christian education is a tried and true method of teaching children according to their abilities and strengths. Children love to be challenged and stretched, and our well-trained teachers balance this with love and kindness. Click on the Student Life tab for information on electives and activites, or click on the Academics tab to see how carefully our curriculum is integrated horizontally (through the year) and vertically (from grade K to 12).

How do I apply?

To apply, fill out the Rockbridge Academy Application, upload all required supporting materials, and submit your application fee of $150 per applicant. Upon receipt, a letter will be sent to you with instructions for scheduling an appointment for your family interview and academic testing. After this appointment, our Admissions Committee will assess readiness to enter our school.

Are there opportunities to visit and tour or sit in on classes?

Absolutely! We love visitors! We offer tours and open houses throughout the year. Additionally, parents may sit in on classes and potential students may shadow. To find out information about our open houses or to arrange an appointment for a tour or to shadow, please fill out the online form to the right, and click submit. It's that easy! We'll be in touch with you shortly thereafter to arrange for your visit.

What types of enrichment opportunities are available at Rockbridge?

We are pleased to offer many opportunities for your child to grow: field trips, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' and girls' cross country, boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' swimming, girls' lacrosse, boys' tennis, baseball, FCA, drama, orchestra, choir, drawing, painting, debate, mock trial, Science Olympiad, Young Scientists and Engineers Club, Finance Club, Philosophy Club, and Black Tie Club. There are also informal opportunities to enjoy other families in after school play, book clubs, and fellowship. Whether the children are competing, planning, or just playing, we want to encourage them to delight in all that God has given them and to use these opportunities for His glory.

Is Rockbridge accredited?

Rockbridge Academy is accredited through the Association of Classical & Christian Schools, and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.

Is financial assistance available?

Yes. Rockbridge Academy utilizes FACTS GRANT & AID for tution assistance and management. All enrolled families may apply. Read more information on the Tuition Assistance program.

How do Rockbridge students perform on standardized tests?

Each year, students in grades 2, 4, 6, and 7 take the CTP-4 test. Our students perform very well on these standardized tests, with average scores ranging above the local, state, and national norm.

In high school, last year's graduating class's SAT scores averaged 1355 out of 1600. (The writing section of the SAT was optional beginning last year, so this score is based on the verbal and math sections only.)

What are the hours of the school day?

At the K-3 campus, morning kindergarten meets from 8:20-11:30am, while afternoon kindergarten meets from 11:45am-3:00pm. Grades 1-3 meet from 8:20am-3:00pm.

We also offer a full-day Kindergarten option, which we call Kindergarten Enrichment.  Kindergarten Enrichment is offered both in the mornings and afternoons as a complement to the half-day Kindergarten program, with two-day, three-day, and five-day per week options.

At the main campus, grades 4-12 meet from 8:00am-2:45pm.
