Advanced Lego Robotics
Instructor: Mr. Curtis Bates

Level: For completed grades 7-12

Do you love building with Legos? Would you like to learn more about coding for robotics? Are you looking for a challenge beyond the basics? We will design, build, program and test robots that can complete complex tasks, record live data, respond to the environmental changes and more. Hands-on STEM learning!
Computer hardware requirements: Standard Windows or Mac computers (with USB) needed, one per robot. Bluetooth is a plus. Robot will plug into USB or connect via bluetooth for programming.
Computer Software requirements: Mindstorms NXT 2.0 software is downloadable from Lego.com. Software should be installed before attending and may require administrative privileges to do so.
Lego Robotics

Monday-Friday, August 10-17 @ 10:00 AM-12:30 PM
Level: For completed grades 4–8

What to Bring: Water bottle, snack, pencil, notebook, and, if staying all day, lunch. OPTIONAL: Laptop computer (5 max.) — see minimum requirements below

The Lego Robotics course provides a foundation to students in electromechanical concepts as they relate to the device called a robot. Teams will design, build, and operate a Lego robot. Each day a challenge will be issued for their robot to accomplish on the Lego competition mat. Let the competition begin!
PLEASE NOTE: This course is part of Week 13's Discover Summer By the Week full-day and half-day camps. Students may register for this course either as a Week 13 camp (grades 4-6) or as an a-la-carte course (grades 7-8).
SAT Reading Preparation
Instructor: JD Head
Monday-Friday, August 17-21 @ 9:30 AM-12:00 PM
Level: Completed Grades 9-11
Cost: $130
What to Bring: Pencil and paper.
We will apply both test-wide and section-specific approaches so students will be able to approach the Fall 2020 test dates with greater confidence and success.
SAT Math Preparation
Instructor: Monica Davis
Monday-Friday, August 17-21 @ 12:30-3:00 PM
Level: Completed Grades 9-11
Cost: $130
What to Bring: Pencil, paper, and a calculator
We will cover problem solving, algebra, and trigonometry that require careful analysis and critical thinking to improve test-taking strategies and results.
Dialectic Writing Intensive
Instructor: JD Head
Monday-Friday, August 17-21 @ 12:30-2:00 PM
Level: Completed Grades 7-9; limited to 5 students only
Cost: $250
What to Bring: Pencil and paper.
Due to limited enrollment, this camp is available upon recommendation of the student’s teacher or admissions committee. Focus will be on writing.
Dialectic Reading Intensive
Instructor: JD Head
Monday-Friday, August 17-21 @ 2:00-3:00 PM
Level: Completed Grades 6-7; limited to 5 students only
Cost: $150
What to Bring: Pencil and paper.
Due to limited enrollment, this camp is available upon recommendation of the student’s teacher or admissions committee. Focus will be on notetaking.
