Within the framework of an outdoor Belvoir scavenger hunt, enjoy fascinating wilderness lore, bobbing between Rachael Carson's "Listening to Crickets" and Meshach Browning's "Forty-Four Years of the Life of a Hunter." Gain some adventure skills. Let's problem solve together to build shelters, use an axe safely, purify water, identify edible plants (and poison ivy), start a fire wisely, track with land markings, build smoke signals, make plaster casts of animal prints, and get as dirty as necessary doing it. Our Leave-No-Trace motto accompanies a Land-of-Opportunity Can-Do spirit. Let's go, Scots!

"Cross-training is athletic training in sports other than the athlete's usual sport. The goal is improving overall performance. It takes advantage of the particular effectiveness of one training method to negate the shortcomings of another.”

In other words, Rockbridge Academy’s Cross-training Camp is a little of this and a little of that. It is also a great place for your young athlete, or athlete-to-be, to test and see what they like. If your child already has a favorite sport, this camp is an opportunity to try something different--a literal change of pace, perhaps, or a chance to build new and different skills. We will play a little soccer; throw some footballs; work on developing agility, strength and endurance; and, generally, throw, catch, run, jump, and explore the abundant and varied world of athletic endeavor.
