Application Process FAQs
Absolutely! We love visitors! We offer tours, virtual information meetings, Story Times, and Open House events throughout the year. To find out more about our upcoming events and RSVP, please check out our Visit page. Shadow Days are available to students entering grade 4 and higher after their parents have visited the school. Please email admissions@rockbridge.org to set up a Shadow Day.
To apply, fill out the Rockbridge Academy Application, upload all required supporting materials, and submit your application fee of $85 per applicant. Upon receipt, an email will be sent to you with instructions for scheduling an appointment for your family interview and academic testing. After this appointment, our Admissions Committee will assess readiness to enter our school.
The earlier, the better. Many of our grades will fill to capacity. Parents may submit a Junior Kindergarten or Kindergarten application two years prior to the start of the school year for which their child will be eligible by age. For students transferring into grades one and higher, applications are available in the first week of September. Applications received in time for January testing will receive a decision in time to be considered for the first round of Tuition Affordability. Rockbridge Academy will continue to consider applications until all remaining seats are filled.
Yes. After completion of your child's admissions application, you may apply for tuition assistance through our Tuition Affordability program. Applications open on October 15. The deadline for new families is January 15. Rockbridge Academy utilizes FACTS GRANT & AID for tuition assistance and management. Financial aid is evaluated each year based on demonstration of continued financial need and commitment to re-enroll your student at Rockbridge Academy. Families are expected to submit an application each year to be considered for tuition assistance.
Once your application is submitted, the Admissions office will reach out to begin scheduling interviews and readiness assessments.
Once an acceptance decision has been given, parents will have two weeks to accept Rockbridge Academy's offer to enroll. Parents can secure a seat by completing and submitting the online enrollment packet. In grades where selectivity and demand are especially high, failure to enroll within the two-week period may jeopardize the offered seat. In cases where Tuition Affordability decisions are still pending, enrollment deadlines will be adjusted.
For any grade in which capacity has been met, students who have competed the admissions process and been accepted will be placed in a wait pool until space becomes available. If the grade remains full after the start of school, you may choose to have your application rolled over to the following school year by contacting the Admissions office, at which time the application fee for the following year will be waived.
General FAQs
Absolutely! Classical Christian education is a tried and true method of teaching children according to their abilities and strengths. Children love to be challenged and stretched, and our well-trained teachers balance this with love and kindness toward each student. Click on the Student Life tab for information on electives and activities, or click on the Academics tab to see how carefully our curriculum is integrated horizontally (through the year) and vertically (from grade K to 12). Colleges, universities, and trades schools appreciate our students. Learn where our seniors are accepted and land after Rockbridge Academy.
At Rockbridge Academy, we take a deliberate approach to helping our students see Christ ruling over every thought, every subject, every historical moment, this moment we are living in. This is a responsibility that we don't take lightly and something we cannot do alone.
By God's grace, the support of an all-Christian faculty who prays together each day for one another and for our students helps keep our eyes set on Christ. We acknowledge our dependence on Christ and make an effort to point our students to Him daily.
Rockbridge Academy is a covenant school seeking to partner with parents as they train their children in the discipline and knowledge of the Lord. In that endeavor, we stand in the parents' place during the school day and in turn recognize the parent's sovereignty over their children's educational journey. We seek to encourage one another to follow biblical principles of fellowship, restoration, and good works.
We provide a rigorous classical Christian education for students from families who support and believe in our Statement of Faith.
We are pleased to offer many opportunities for your child to grow: Motor Lab, field trips, boys' and girls' sports, FCA, drama, orchestra, choir, drawing, painting, debate, mock trial, academic competitions, a variety of student clubs, and a vibrant House system. You may have heard of the Grand Tour! There are also informal opportunities to enjoy other families in after-school play, book clubs, and fellowship. Whether students are competing, planning, or just playing, we want to encourage them to delight in all that God has given them and to use these opportunities for His glory.
Rockbridge Academy is accredited by the Association of Classical & Christian Schools and is a member of the Society of Classical Learning. We teach new teachers and administrators from schools across the country how to do classical Christian education well through our Summer Teacher Training and the ACCS Auxilium.
Yes. Rockbridge Academy utilizes FACTS GRANT & AID for tuition assistance and management. All enrolled families may apply. Read more information on the Tuition Affordability program.
Each year, students in grades 2, 4, 6, and 7 take the CTP-5 test. Our students perform very well on these standardized tests, with average scores ranging above the local, state, and national norm.
In high school, the Class of 2019's SAT scores averaged 1349 out of 1600, based on the verbal and math sections. For more information, check out our stats. Just remember, stats don't tell the whole story of a student or a school. Learn what it means to be prepared for life!
