A Warm Welcome to Rockbridge Academy!

We are honored that you have chosen to enroll at Rockbridge Academy. I speak on behalf of our entire faculty and staff when I say that we are all looking forward to partnering with you in the education of your child[ren].

We have pulled together the ‘nuts and bolts’ items to have at the ready for the start of school.  Between these items, Summer Academy, the Parent/Student Handbook, orientation events, and communications from the faculty and staff, your child’s new school routine will begin to feel more familiar.

We will add items throughout the spring and summer as we get ready for the new school year. Please bookmark this page and continue to check back.

Back to School Forms

Junior Kindergarten

Between July 1 and August 3, please log into the FACTS Family Portal to verify your Family Demographics and Annual Emergency information under Web Forms.

Additionally, the state of Maryland requires that all Jr. Kindergarten students' health forms be on file by the first day of school for him/her to attend. We ask that they be in by August 3, 2026.

Summer is a great time to schedule doctor appointments for back-to-school health check-ups and have your child's pediatrician sign the forms.

Jr. Kindergarten HEALTH FORMS

K-12 Health Documents and Emergency Forms

Between July 1 and August 3, please log into the FACTS Family Portal to verify your Family Demographics and Annual Emergency information under Web Forms.

In order to administer prescriptions or even over-the-counter medication at school, the parents/guardians and your family physician must complete a consent form each school year. Over-the-counter medicines include ibuprofen, acetaminophen, bug bite cream, and even cough drops. Prescription medications include epinephrine, inhalers, or insulin or any other prescription medication that must be taken at school.

Consider scheduling your child's doctor appointments in the summer to receive immunizations, sports physicals, and back-to-school health check-ups. Forms are due to the school August 3.

The Rockbridge Academy uniform and grooming guidelines reflect a standard of professional learning and modesty.

Grammar Dress Code

Upper School Dress Code

All uniform items must be purchased through Lands' End or through the uniform swap, except where noted.

Rockbridge Academy's Uniformee site has gently used uniforms for sale!
Check out this FAQ document for answers to your questions or email uniformswap@rockbridge.org.

We strongly encourage permanently labeling all items your children will wear and bring to school, including all clothing, lunch bags, water bottles, instruments, Bibles, etc. Each year, literally hundreds of dollars worth of items end up in the school’s lost and found bin. Parents and students, please check lost and found bins regularly.

Helpful Tips for Special Orders i.e. longer skirt and pant lengths

  • For upper school skirts: please order women's sizes, NOT girls' sizes.
  • Check the Sizing & Fit link for the uniform item.  This will offer instructions on how to measure your child and better determine if your child needs a custom size.  If you need a custom length:
    • With measurements in hand, please contact the LandsEnd School Uniform Support Team at 1-800-388-3677 or email uniformcustom@landsend.com
    • The creation of a custom size will include an additional charge per item.  (+$50 Rhetoric Blazers, +$10 all other items)
    • They require approximately 8-10 weeks to fulfill any custom-length orders.
    • Lands' End will send a sample to families for measurement purposes, but this feature adds another three weeks to the process.
    • Families should consider getting their orders in by June, if you anticipate needing extra length for the beginning of the 2026-27 school year.
    • For your convenience, sizing samples are available for the school-wide pleated plaid skirt, grammar skorts, and rhetoric gray ponte pleat skirt. Contact uniformswap@rockbridge.org to make try-on arrangements.

Rockbridge Academy partners with LLC Lunch and Chick-fil-A Waugh Chapel to provide secure, fast, and easy ways for parents to order, prepay, and manage hot lunch online.

LLC Lunch ordering:

  • Go to https://LLCLunch.com for step-by-step ordering instructions.
  • Select if you want to place an order for a day, week, month, or the year. This will take you to the correct order form where you will place your order.
In-school hot lunch will be offered every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the school year.

Chick-fil-A ordering:

Bag Lunch: Students may bring in a packed lunch instead of a pre-ordered hot lunch.

Snacks: Most children require multiple snacks per day in addition to lunch.  Please send students with healthy snacks to meet your child’s individual hunger level throughout the day. Grammar students may eat snacks at snack time, recess, or other scheduled breaks. Upper school students may eat snacks between classes.

Water: Adequate hydration is necessary for successful learning. Your child should bring a water bottle to school every day. The Evergreen Campus has several water bottle refill stations for students. Please LABEL ALL water bottles with the student’s name. The bottles do get carried around during the day —from class, to recess, to PE, to lunch, and back again. Students participating in athletics or After the Bell activities after school should plan to refill before practice.

    Grammar summer Reading Challenge packet

Students who meet the page number benchmark will receive a prize and their name on the library bulletin board in the fall. The top winners in each age category will receive an additional prize!

All Rockbridge Academy and Paideia students and faculty will read Kate DiCamillo's The Tale of Despereaux. Parents of Jr. K students through 3rd grade, please read this out loud to your child. Find more information on incentives and opportunities in the packet.

    Upper School Summer Reading/Unplug Challenge

This summer, all Rockbridge Academy students and faculty (join in, parents) will read Kate DiCamillo’s The Tale of Despereaux. As a community, we hope this will foster conversations around the main themes of the book. This required reading will be part of a house summer reading challenge in which students will earn points for each book they read on the 2026 Rockbridge summer reading list.

Unplug: Students can earn additional points by unplugging this summer. Earn one point for each day you abstain from all video games and (if you own one) use a cell phone only as a phone. More information is available in the summer reading challenge document.

New upper school students find out their House at the start of school. Start earning points today for your future Rockbridge House.

    Classical Christian Resources for parents

Classical Christian education is a journey for which parents need provision and fortification. We have assembled a list of books for families to equip themselves along the way.

***Paideia School parents will be assigned required reading over the summer. Please look for an email outlining the required summer reading for Paideia parents.***

As you know, one of our core values is Parental Partnership, and what makes a partnership grow into a thriving fellowship is active communication.

Please stay up with communication with the school from weekly announcements to volunteering on campus.

  • eSSENTIALS comes out on Tuesdays with weekly announcements and action items.
  • Benedictio is the Rockbridge newsletter showcasing events, news, and alumni connections.

We would love to include grandparents and send them the Benedictio newsletter as well. Please send grandparents' contact information to Suz Armstrong at sarmstrong@rockbridge.org, if you didn't add them as part of enrollment.

Stay Connected

At Rockbridge Academy, we operate In Loco Parentis, which means our teachers have been given their authority to disciple and train your child with your permission and blessing. Included in our vision statement for parents is that they enjoy the journey of their child's education and grow in knowledge of the classical Christian approach. In fulfillment of these goals, we present opportunities to equip parents along the way. Over the summer, parents can learn what other new classical Christian teachers from across the country come to learn from Rockbridge Academy staff and faculty: how to teach well and inspire the learner.

Summer Teacher Training and Parents' Reading Groups are free to enrolled parents and serve as an insider's look at how our teachers teach and what goes on in the classroom. We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to learn from your child's teachers.

Summer Teacher Training, Free for Parents July 21-24, 2026

Parents are welcome to participate in just a few talks or every session. You decide based on your own schedule and interests. However, we would still appreciate having your registration. Please reach out to Tina Thompson: 410-923-1171 EXT 1010 to register.

We use the FACTS Family Portal for the school/student information system. Use the login credentials you created upon enrollment. Class lists and schedules will be posted in August. Call Dawn Jeffords, our register and tech coordinator, for any needed assistance, djeffords@rockbridge.org, 410-923-1171 ext. 1009.

Every student must have an Annual Permissions and Acknowledgments Form 2026-2027 on file by August 3. The family demographics form and emergency acknowledgment form are in the Family Portal under Web Forms in the main menu. Scroll down to find the emergency form.
