“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” ~Deuteronomy 6:6-8

“…bring them up in the discipline and instruction [paideia] of the LORD.” ~Ephesions 6:4

What is The Paideia School?

The Paideia School is a new extension of Rockbridge Academy, designed for families who want a Christ-centered, classical education in a unique format that blends school and home. It offers families a unique model of classical Christian education. Students attend in-person classes two days each week with Rockbridge-trained professional teachers, then continue their studies at home under the guidance of their parents for the other three days.

This structure provides the rigor, accountability, and community of a Rockbridge education while honoring the calling of parents to be the primary educators of their children.

Our Role in the Rockbridge Academy Family

Christian.

As part of the broader Rockbridge Academy Mission, we take a deliberate approach to helping our students see Christ ruling over every thought, every subject, every historical moment, and the present. The Paideia School, like the larger Rockbridge Community, is unwaveringly Christian in our approach to educating the hearts and minds of our students.

Classical.

Our program builds upon Rockbridge Academy’s proven classical curriculum, steeped in the riches of the liberal arts. Students study great books, history, science, and mathematics through the framework of the Trivium and Quadrivium.  Through this study, students are equipped to seek out and delight in truth, goodness, and beauty in God’s creation all around them.

Collaborative.

At The Paideia School, professional teachers and parents work hand-in-hand as co-laborers in education and discipleship. Collaborative Education (sometimes called University-Model®, or Hybrid Education) is a unique teaching model that allows parents to take a direct role in the education of their children while benefiting from the structure of an established school. Our teachers provide expert classroom instruction two days a week, while parents are equipped to continue lessons at home using clear lesson plans and ongoing support from the Paideia School teachers. This model allows for a comprehensive education through rigorous academics, meaningful family time, and a vibrant learning community.

Collaborative-style programs have grown rapidly over the past few decades. There are currently over 200 collaborative-style academies across the country and it is the fastest growing model within the Association of Classical Christian Schools.
